The Story

Kepler1 lived behind an energy barrier it believed could not be broken. On the day the barrier failed, the Queen was in open country with no guard but her husband, and the first strike landed on the Grand Hall before anyone thought to sound an alarm.

The invasion came from Tetracore. The intelligence came from inside Kepler1.

What follows runs from a burning capital to a bar on the edge of the system where a King's widow buys a contract killing, and it ends on a park bench on Earth with a little girl, a teddy bear, and a message sent from a device on her wrist.
